Our Story
Khudéla was founded in 2009 in Berlin by Nadine Rahimtoola and Ken Burke. It all started with Sam’s Dream, a shadow puppet performance paired with live music, designed to help young children learn English in a fun, interactive, and engaging way. Since then, we’ve been creating and delivering award-winning social creative projects funded locally, regionally, and by the EU. These projects have taken us across Europe, always with the goal of supporting the social and emotional well-being of children in schools and centres, while fostering learning through the creative arts.
As time has passed, so have we evolved. After more than a decade, Khudéla has grown into a well-established non-profit with a dynamic and diverse team of freelance artists from various creative fields. Our team includes accomplished performers, visual artists, musicians, dancers, animators, filmmakers, directors, and producers – many of whom also work as educators, coaches, facilitators, and therapists in their fields.
Today, our focus is on two key areas:
1. As Creative Educators for children and youth, we design and deliver creative projects, workshops, and courses that support mental health and empowerment through the arts. We collaborate with schools across Germany and Europe, offering exciting creative educational projects that meet the needs of today’s ever-changing world. We aim to make a real impact, helping to strengthen resilience, improve communication, and nurture personal growth.
2. Our Khudéla Academy for Arts and Education offers specialized workshops and courses for educators and adult learners, providing first-class training in theatre, music, and visual arts that can be easily integrated into classrooms and educational settings. With over 20 years of combined experience, we offer top-quality education to support both teachers’ and students’ growth and well-being.
